What it holds
Knowledge Base (/vendor/knowledge) is one search over four sources: documents you upload, past performance records, Answer Library entries, and approved boilerplate from the content library (drafts are not searchable). Document types: Past Proposal, Past Performance, Capability Statement, Personnel Bio, FAR/DFARS, Company Profile, Other.
Uploading
Add Document takes a PDF, DOCX or TXT file up to 20 MB, or pasted text, with a title and a type. Do not upload CUI or export-controlled (ITAR/EAR) files: a screen runs before anything is written and files with those markings are rejected. After ingest the document shows a state: Indexed (every chunk searchable by keyword and by meaning), Pending, Keyword only (not yet searchable by meaning), Needs OCR (a scan with no text layer), or No text found. Documents are scoped to your company.
Searching
Type at least 2 characters. Use quotes for a phrase, "or" between words, and a minus sign to leave a word out. A search needs every word first and falls back to any word, and says so. Results are ranked, with highlighted snippets; there are no percentage scores. Meaning (vector) search runs only when your documents have embedded chunks and the operator has enabled live AI; otherwise the health strip reads "Meaning search is off" and search matches your words and their stems only. Nothing is faked.
How drafts use it
When a proposal section is drafted, the writer retrieves up to 8 excerpts from your past proposals, past performance, capability statement, personnel bios and company profile, and lists them under the section as the company documents used. The claim check compares the section against those same excerpts. Knowledge Query (/vendor/knowledge/rag) answers questions with cited sources; while AI is off its answers are marked Not grounded. The RAG Console (/vendor/rag) indexes text for one session only and is not the persistent knowledge base.
